In video and pictures: Hundreds turn out for Sealed Knot English Civil War re-enactment in Oswestry's Cae Glas Park
Hundreds of people turned out to get a dose of living history as the English Civil War arrived in Oswestry.
A team of 45 re-enactment soldiers from the Sealed Knot took over Cae Glas Park for the weekend, with visitors treated to a skirmish between musketeers and pike men.
The event was organised by Oswestry Town Council and mayor, Councillor Paul Milner, said he was thrilled at the way the day had gone.
He said: "It was completely brilliant. We had about 400 people down there and everyone I spoke to was having a great time. The Sealed Knot were fantastic and I cannot thank them enough. They made it a great day for everyone.
"They put themselves out there to explain different parts of history and it is a wonderful way for people to learn about the past." Marty Young, who plays the role of a musketeer in the group said they had been portraying the troops that would have been garrisoned at Oswestry Castle during the Civil War. The group, John Lilburne's Regiment of Foote, also provided a spectacular evening display of musket firing at Castle Mound at around 8pm.
