First ever conker tournament takes place in Bridgnorth - with video and pictures
Punters went head to head in the first ever conker tournament held at a pub in Bridgnorth.
The event went so well at The White Lion, that they said it will be an annual event from now on.
Dan Reardon, assistant manager at The White Lion on West Castle Street, said there were about 10 people of all ages entered into the competition for a chance to win a £25 bar tab.
Dan said: "The winners of each round go through to the next round until the two finalists will play off for the prize.
"They're playing one at a time so everyone can watch each other.
"You get your conker on a piece of string then you get three swings each at each other's conkers, taking it in turns, until one of the conkers is smashed.
"They keep the conkers throughout the game, so after a couple of goes the conkers may be a bit dented."
Those taking part ranged from thewir early 20s to their late 60s.
Dan said: "It's all happening here – there's cheering as people watch on with a pint in hand, gathered around the end of the bar so the spectators can enjoy the sport.
"It's just a bit of fun for those standing around drinking beer, it's brought on a bit of a crowd.
"We like to have lots of different activities when we can for the regulars and to entertain the punters.
"Our manager Jamie McDonald came up with the idea as he is a keen conker enthusiast. He's probably polishing his conkers at home ready to come and play.
"We know some people could cheat by cooking their conkers to harden them but we hope we've just got honest conker players here."
