Shrewsbury-based Drapers Hall will hold an art and painting workshop next week.

The day-long event on Monday will be hosted by local artist Rob Leckey. Rob, who holds years of experience as a workshop provider, is an associate member of The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and has been exhibited at the RBSA in Birmingham.

There are eight of his paintings currently on display at Drapers Hall, the sales of which Drapers Hall will donate to Macmillan Cancer Support Shropshire.

Rob added: "The workshop is for both beginners and experienced artists. Paintings will be constructed in controlled but loose stages from the background coming forward, enabling artists with limited experience to confidently venture into new artistic avenues."

Attendees are advised, though not essential, to bring their own acrylic paints, brushes and pallets, collage materials in the form of tissue paper, newsprint and magazines and old store or bank cards.

Rollers and wooden printing tools and other materials will be made available. Mount boards may be purchased at the cost price of £1.25.

The workshop will run from 10am to 5pm.

Tickets for up to a maximum of 20 attendees are £40 in advance, which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

They are available from Drapers Hall on 01743 344679 or via email goodfood@drapers hall.co.uk
