However, he has turned his hand to comedy and will headline Birmingham's O2 on Tuesday.

Steve said: "What's driven me is being an attention whore. I got into stand-up comedy over 10 years ago now, kind of by accident. I was invited to do a stunt at a comedy club, and upon arriving I couldn't think of a crazier stunt than trying stand up, and seeking to face my ultimate fears. I came up with some stuff I could talk about, and got up onstage and gave it my best shot. It really was terrifying too, it was genuinely terrifying the first time I tried it.

"My experience that first time was that people were excited to see me, that they were rooting for me to do well, and I'm not even sure why, but I was really encouraged and heartened. From when I got there, I probably had about an hour to wait for my turn to get on stage, and over the course of the hour, come up with some stuff that was just outrageous and funny enough to get genuine laughs. I don't think I was on stage for more than three minutes, but it was a favorable experience, and before I left the comedy club that night I scheduled my return, and really fell in love with the idea of pursuing comedy on that first night."

Comedy wasn't something that Steve had planned to do. It was a case of going along to a comedy club and deciding to try his hand at something new.

"I hadn't thought of it once before that first time. It never occurred to me once before that first time. It was purely by accident that it happened."

Fans can look forward to a new well-timed surprises when he takes to the stage at Birmingham.

"Of course, I wouldn't be coming if there weren't. The way that my show works, is of course as I said with stories and jokes, but periodically throughout the show I'm going to be performing stunts and tricks, it's good fun. When I do a show in a theatre I have a little bit more emphasis on stunts and tricks."
