Wooden huts have been popping up in Southwater for the past week ready for the first ever market of its kind in Telford.

It is hoped the spectacle will bring people from all over the region to shop for Christmas presents at its many stalls.

Councillor Liz Clare, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for culture, sports, parks and green spaces, said:

"Our market has around 30 stalls of different with a mix of food, drink and great Christmas gifts.

"We are hosting both European and local businesses in Southwater.

"It's clear to see from the fantastic support on social media that a great number of people are excited to visit the market, which runs until December 23."

She added: "We are also looking forward to welcoming visitors from near and far."

Stalls will include Shropshire Christmas Burgers and Christmas Cocktails.

The market opens from 10am to 7pm, Sunday to Wednesday, and 10am to 9pm, Thursday to Saturday.
