Odyssey has taken over the former premises of Vox bar in Telford.

The restaurant has opened in Central Square and attracted huge crowds to its first night.

Owner Costas Vanezi said its opening night on Wednesday was invitation only, but saw 130 people turn out to sample the food.

He said: "We have done quite a bit of work to the building, it was the old Vox bar and we have changed it into a restaurant." Mr Vanezi already runs Pussycats nightclub in Wellington and Odyssey's neighbouring restaurant Dragon's Den.

He said he previously ran Odyssey Taverna in Shifnal which was very popular and much missed by former customers, who he hopes will now come to sample the food in Telford.

He said: "A lot of people still talk about it."

The restaurant will offer its meze and à la carte menu daily and the venue will also play host to Greek party nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings throughout December where guests can enjoy live Greek entertainment, plate smashing and dancing.

Odyssey Greek restaurant will be initially open for evening meals from 5:30pm until late seven days a week, with lunchtime opening to be launched in the new year subject to demand.
