Ghost Adventures: TV hunters hear screams and barking in 72-hour lock-in at Shrewsbury's Dana Prison
The story of the haunted Dana Prison in Shrewsbury is to be told in the USA.
The former host of US series Ghost Adventures Nick Groff joined fellow celebrity ghost hunter Katrina Weidman for a visit to the jail.
The visit was part of Paranormal Lockdown on the American network TLC.
The hit US TV programme returned for its second season on Friday and will feature an episode where Nick and Katrina spend 72 hours locked inside HMP Shrewsbury, known as one of the UK's most haunted prisons.
Joel Campbell, owner of The Campbell Group of companies which operates Jailhouse Tours at the Dana, said: "In the paranormal field, Nick and Katrina are both hugely well-known and have gained a worldwide following which is growing ever-more with the launch earlier this year of Paranormal Lockdown.
"To have two individuals of their calibre choosing to come over from America and film their show in Shrewsbury is a huge coup, especially as it's the only episode from season two which is filmed outside of the USA."
Filming took place across four days in the summer, with Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman captured on film for 72 continuous hours, including times when they were sleeping, in an attempt to capture the prison's infamous paranormal activity on camera.
During the stay, Nick slept in the infamous 'C' wing – considered the most paranormally active section of the prison – where he heard a full-on argument, presumably between prisoners, as well as a woman's scream and a dog's bark.
Steve Dorricot, who worked as a prison officer at HMP Shrewsbury for 24 years, worked with the crew during filming, which included him being involved in some of the re-enactment and reconstruction scenes, which form an important part of the television show.
Joel added: "The whole team was thrilled to have such recognisable paranormal investigators here, and we're very excited to see Shrewsbury Prison in all its glory when the programme is aired on TLC in January."
Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman are not the only paranormal investigators to be attracted to the historic prison.
