Great Gatsby night at Wolverhampton Grand
Wolverhampton Grand Theatre will open its doors for an evening of retro musical entertainment with a 'Great Gatsby' night.
Following on from the reopening Gala night last year on September 10, the theatre will once again host an evening of live music, both in the auditorium and front of house.
Michael Law's Piccadilly Dance Orchestra and the Gatsby Girls will take part in the evening.
They will be offering the Charleston and Black Bottom of the 1920s through to the classic songs of the 1930s featuring some of the greatest dance music of the golden jazz era.
Theatre publicity states: "We will transport you back to a world of sophistication, glitz and glamour, delighting your senses with the flapper fun and frolics of the 1920s. Join us for a glass of fizz from 6.30pm then sit back and enjoy our show."
Michael Law, who founded the orchestra, is also a renowned singer and pianist. He took part in Radio 2's Noël Coward centenary celebration.
It was the station's three-part series about Coward hosted by Neil Tennant and also recorded a hitherto unrecorded Coward song for a Radio 4 programme about Marie Stopes.
Mr Law was featured both with his orchestra and as a commentator on BBC 4's highly successful programmes Len Goodman's Dancing Feet and Len Goodman's Dance Band Days.
As well as authentic steps from the Charleston to the Black Bottom by The Gatsby Girls, the atmosphere will continue into the bars and foyers which were recently refurbished in a style that complements the 'Gatsby' era. The Great Gatsby night will take place on Saturday, April 1.
Those attending are encouraged to wear Gatsby-style outfits.
