The last day of public skating will be April 23, before it closes the following Monday. The rink is due to reopen to the public on May 8.

The soft play area will remain open throughout the works.

It was installed in 2013 and needs regular repainting to ensure it complies with the rules and regulations for ice hockey games.

The planned works will improve both the look and operation of the ice pad for customers and clubs using the facility.

Councillor Richard Overton, cabinet member for housing, leisure and health said: "We apologise to the customers and clubs."
