World famous aircraft on display at show

An exciting array of some of the world's most famous aircraft will be on display at an air show in the region, organisers have announced.

The Bob Jones Memorial Air Show will take place on June 11 at Welshpool Airport, and organisers have revealed that enthusiasts are in for a real treat.

Thousands expected to attend the event this year. They will be able to take helicopter rides from the air show site and enjoy a range of on-the-ground activities.

Aircraft confirmed so far include BBMF 1 Lancaster Bomber 2 Spitfires, the Red Devils Freefall Team, BAC Strikemaster, the Twister Aerobatics Team, Grob Tutor, Old Bückers, Team Raven, a Gyrocopter, Aviat Husky – with Bob Pooler performing his renowned aerobatic skills), Pitts Special S1-S, Lauren Richardson, and Westland Whirlwind HAR10.

Councillor Chris Davies, chairman of Welshpool Town Council's events and tourism committee, said: "Added to breathtaking displays in the skies, we have the transport festival with its wide ranging exhibits of cherished classic and vintage cars, motorbikes, buses and industrial vehicles.

"Other attractions on the day will include helicopter rides during which you will see Welshpool and the airport in a very different way, trade stands, activities for the children and stalls. There will be something for everyone."
