More than 500 join Much Wenlock arts festival

More than 500 competitors took to the stage as part of the 131st Wenlock Olympian Games Live Arts Festival.

The festival took place at The Edge Arts Centre at William Brookes School, Much Wenlock.

Competitions were held in categories of speech and drama, and music and dance.

Olympic world medal triple jumper, Jonathan Edwards, President of Wenlock Olympian Society, and Bert Harper, mayor of Much Wenlock attended the festival.

The youngest winner was two-year-old Joshua Smith who was a gold medallist in the primary song and dance category.

Dancers of the year were Amy Poultney, Ruth Campbell with double celebrations for Amy who also took the title of junior dancer of the year.

Other results included: instrumentalists, Lara Debenham, Henry Willis; vocalists, Maisie Rose Freeman, Annabel rocket; in the primary category and Annabel Rockett in the secondary school category.

Speech and drama, Isla Bowman, Ruth Waterson; intermediate ballet, Ella Chatterton.

Among local winners were Isabel Sharples and Madelene Constantinou silver medallists in the intermediate cabaret duet category.
