Anyone interested in the former HMP Shrewsbury prison, also known as the Dana, can find out more from experts and even a man who escaped its confines.

Immersive Events have partnered with Jailhouse Tours to bring the Dana Prison History Day on May 1. An interactive tour, the history day brings prison characters from years gone past to life.

Visitors are able to walk through the site on a self-guided tour, experiencing first hand the life prisoners and guards had, from Georgian times until the prison's closure in 2013. Visitors can interact with the characters, ask questions and learn about prison life and the Dana's grizzly history.

A small part of the Georgian holding cells will be open, there will be a chance to meet the last Governor Gerry Henry and interact with Albert Pierrepoint before he conducts an execution.

There will also be an exclusive 20 minute tour, delivered by Walter Groom, one of only two men to have escaped the Dana Prison.

Tickets are £15 for adults, £13 for concessions, £9.50 for children and £43.50 for a family.
