Follow the tile trail at Ironbridge Gorge
A tile trail has been created in Jackfield.
A new picnic area has also been completed as part of the final landscaping bringing the site of former stabilisation work back to life.
The tile trail map has been created by Craven Dunhill Jackfield Ltd and Telford & Wrekin Council as part of the Jackfield Stabilisation scheme in the Ironbridge Gorge.
This is part of a wider scheme in partnership with Jacobs Engineering Group that has just seen the completion of the picnic area and the re-landscaped lower slopes that are now open and available to public access.
Cllr Nicola Lowery ward member for the Ironbridge Gorge said: “It is fantastic to see to the completion of the picnic area and the opening of the re-engineered lower slopes, which will provide a fantastic resource to the local community and visitors.
"It is a beautiful area to explore, experience the rich heritage and to enjoy the beautiful views within the Gorge.
"The picnic area is an idyllic spot and would be an ideal setting and location for outdoors events so encourage any interested parties to email me their ideas for the space on Nicolalowery@telford.gov.uk in addition to the ideas we are exploring.
"The tile trail map has just been launched and is available at local museums. I am also working with the council and parties involved to look at putting leaflets in the picnic area, so this delights of this trail can be fully enjoyed by our community and visitors.
"If anyone is interested in finding out more please do not hesitate to get in touch.
“The completion of the Jackfield Stabilisation project is a significant achievement and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved for working so positively and collaboratively with the community.
"I am delighted to learn that the Jackfield Stabilisation prokect has been entered into this year’s Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) West Midlands Project Awards as this recognises this outstanding achievement in terms of engineering and design.
"It continues to be a very exciting time for the Gorge”.
