Hundreds of people enjoyed the spectacle of duck racing on The Brook, cheering on the plastic ducks as they bobbed up and down from one bridge to another.

There was also a display of belly dancing as well as stalls and side shows.

The event was revived by the Shifnal carnival committee in 2011 and then again in 2014 and has been held ever since.

Town councillor and one of the organisers, Caroline Killen, said that it was a very successful event.

"We had a lot of charities who were able to run stalls and fundraise for their own good causes," she said.

"There were lots of families who came out and enjoyed the day together. I remembered the event when I was a child and how much I enjoyed it and so I approached the carnival committee in 2011 to see if we could revive it," she said.

This year's Shifnal carnival will be held on June 24.

"We are looking ahead to our 50th anniversary of the carnival next year and are looking at making it an all day and evening event," Councillor Killen said.
