The Classic Car Breakfast Meeting at Dearnford Lake, near Whitchurch, was deemed a huge success by organisers, with a variety of popular cars on show.

More than 200 vehicles were at the event, along with a few particularly special models, organiser Malcolm Ling said.

Mr Ling, who lives in Prees, said: “It went extremely well. We had about 210 cars in total and many of them were local cars, with a few from much further afield.

“The weather was glorious which always helps of course and we had a couple of feature cars as well.

“We had an Amphicar, which could travel on the lake as well as the road, and that was fantastic. We also had a Formula Altantic racing car.

The oldest car there was a 1900 Daimler, it was amazing.”

Other cars at the event included a 1977 Triumph Stag, a 1970 Morris Minor 100 and a 1971 Dino 246 GT. The event annually attracts hundreds to the beauty spot, with some travelling from all over the country to attend.

Car enthusiasts began the day at the lake and met over breakfast to admire each others’ vehicles before an optional drive out to Eaton Manor Classical Vehicle day.

Mr Ling said: “About 20 of us travelled down to the charity event, it was a fantastic day.

“Obviously a lot of people visit Dearnford for a coffee and walk around the lake but we did have a lot of people coming to have a look at the cars and chat with the various owners. It is a lovely venue and a smashing place to hold our events.”

The next classic car event will be held at the lake on October 8.
