First exhibition for textile group near Newport hailed a success
Dozens of colourful creations were on show at an exhibition near Newport by a textile art group.
UN:BOUND held its first exhibition at Sambrook village church.
The group, which has 14 members, meets once a month at Sambrook Village Hall and was set up 18 months ago.
Ruth Duffy, a member of the group, said: "We exhibited a wide variety of work including quilts, embroidery and mixed media.
"Everyone put several pieces in.
"Last summer we did some indigo dyeing and there were pieces in the exhibition from that.
"There were a number of embroideries in different sorts of themes.
"There were a number of colourful quilts as well."
Nearly 200 people went to the church to look at the exhibition, which was held over three days.
Proceeds from the event raised £750 for Sambrook village church.
Ms Duffy added: "We had brilliant feedback.
"Some people said they were inspired to go away and do some work themselves. We were really happy at how it went.
"There were also teas, coffees, cakes and refreshments in the village hall.
"This was our first exhibition but we are planning on holding another one in the future.
"It will probably be two years away so we can work on getting a new body of work together."
The group was founded by Anne Armes, of Newport, 18 months ago.
