A pub that went viral for its simplistic poster has published its next – and it is even more basic than the first.

The Friars, in Bridgnorth, attracted viral attention when its poster showing live music dates was praised online. The poster showed a text conversation between the pub's owner Tom Hughes and designer Dave Blackhurst.

The simple design was praised online, with more than 12,000 retweets and 28,000 likes on social media.

The latest one is nothing more than a piece of paper, addressed to Tom and listing the dates for the pub's upcoming gigs.

In it, Mr Blackhurst says: "Sorry for the note, my phone's died. Anyway, we can't do the fake text schtick again, so I reckon we go old school. Just write it out on a piece of paper."

Mr Hughes said: "The performances that were in the poster were attended really well and we have gained more views on our website and more bookings which have really picked up.

"It's been really good, very positive. It was Dave again, he kept this idea from me until when it was unveiled, I think it's brilliant, it's classic Dave and it's very quirky. It's nice because I've seen a lot of people stop and read it.

"It will probably look a bit weird to the people who don't know it, but it will make sense for the people who saw the first advert.

"When people heard about the new advert being unveiled, we had people come to the pub just to see it.

"We gave Dave free barrel of Guinness to say thank you for all the publicity."
