Secrets of Weston Park celllars to be revealed in tour

A new tour will be available to visitors at Weston park, giving them the chance to see the cellars which date back to the Medieval period.

The cellars are among the earliest areas of the house, with parts believed to date back to the Medieval period.

Follow the winding passageways beneath the house and discover the purposes of the cellar from times gone by.

See where the valuable vintage wines were stored in the Georgian and Victorian times, and how families of the past used the cellars as a state-of-the-art under floor heating system.

Gareth Williams, curator at Weston Park, said: “Opening the cellars to the public is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to see an area of the house we have never shown them before.

"It reveals another layer to the story of Weston Park, which visitors will be able to learn about on this fantastic tour.”

Tours start at 12pm and 2pm. Price of the tour is £5 per person, in addition to standard admission.
