Weston Park model air show takes off this month

Pilots from all over the country and beyond will land in Shropshire to take part in this year's Model Air Show.

The Wrekin Model Flying Club will welcome model enthusiasts from across the UK to Weston Park on June 16, 17 and 18.

Those taking to the skies include favourites such as the WW1 Dawn Patrol simulating high adrenaline World War One clashes in the air, the Swift Glider display team and the Elster jet display team from Germany.

On the ground, the show features a Quad Copter and Drone Fair so visitors can find out more about the latest technology and novices and enthusiasts can get their hands on the controls at the Flying School.

Organiser Steve Bishop from the Wrekin Model Flying Club says: “We are really looking forward to welcoming our friends from Germany and Italy to the show who enjoy bringing their wonderful models and flying skills to the UK.”

As the sun sets a stunning night show will feature pyrotechnics, walls of flame and fireworks too truly round off the entertainment on Saturday evening.

Younger visitors can get hands on at the Rocket School, enjoy the fun fair and Weston’s own Woodland Adventure Playground. The event will also feature model car racing and a boat regatta in miniature.

Tickets cost £14 for adults, £6 for children and Family tickets are available for £30. Gates open at 10am. Tickets purchased on Saturday include admission to the evening show.
