Camera, lights, action in Shropshire for brand new thriller
Two Shropshire landmarks were among the locations chosen for an action-packed thriller filmed at locations across Shropshire.
The Wrekin and Ironbridge were involved in the filming of the 90-minute adventure-cum-horror movie titled Out of Gas that is being made by a team of Midland based independent film makers.
The project is the brainchild of Muxton scriptwriter and actor Philip Huzzey, 59, and his project partner Kaushy Patel, of Walsall.
Set partly in Wales it tells the story of a retired field commander Mark Forbes who is soon dragged back into action after a secret experimental project is resurrected. He joins forces with investigative journalist Sonia Jeffries in an effort to get to the bottom of the mystery and as a result finds himself once more in danger. But the situation is further complicated when the colonel's screen wife Rachel masterminds a plot to kill him for his money.
Scenes for the film starring Philip Huzzey as the colonel and Amey Woodhall as Sonia were shot at locations including Granville Park, in Muxton Lane,Muxton; Newport; Haughton Hall, in Shifnal; The Shropshire Golf Club; Greenhouse Vauxhall, in Shrewsbury; and outside Malinsgate Police Station in Telford.
Kiah Reeves plays the colonel's daughter Freya who also gets caught up in the drama that features mutant soldiers.
Mr Huzzey, who plays the colonel, also wrote the script and the songs for the soundtrack. And not to be outdone his real life wife Lorraine plays a scientist in peril in the storyline.
"It has taken some 30 days of shooting over three years to complete and we have also been doing various voice overs very recently. There is a 22-strong cast including extras and a main cast of five and my dog which has a role in the opening scene too.
"We are doing the final edits and when completed the film will be entered into festivals and competitions. We are currently looking for a local venue to have a screening for the cast, crew and guests to come and view it," Mr Huzzey, of Rufus Artistic Production, says.
The project was funded by Mr Huzzey and co-producer and co-director Kaushy Patel, of Pat The Bull Films, who has been previously involved in other Midland independent flicks including The House of Screaming Death and Checking In. Editing is being carried out by the director of photography Mathew Wood.
Mr Huzzey, a technical officer, also praised property owners and businesses for supporting the project by providing access for the camera crew and transport.
None of the actors were paid except for expenses for working on the low budget drama which will be given a premier screening soon.
