Village ready to pop back for 80s fun
Final preparations are being made to transport a village back into the 1980's this weekend.
On Saturday, Audlem, near Market Drayton, will turn its playing field into a concert venue and stage it’s 16th Party on the Park.
Last year about 2,000 people braved the wet weather to enjoy the music concert.
And this year organisers are hoping to put on a bigger and better event, and keeping their fingers crossed for dry weather.
What started out as a sedate evening of proms has transformed over the last five years into an extravaganza of tribute acts that several thousand people from the surrounding towns and villages have come to enjoy.
This year the event will be held on the village playing field on Saturday, July 1 and will feature 80s Mania as well as a fireworks display at the end of the night.
Catherine Reece-Gresty, one of the organisers, said: "This year, 80s Mania are set to headline the event. Heralded to be Europe’s premier 1980s multi tribute concert show, 80s Mania has been wowing starved 80s music fans for the last eight years as the act has toured throughout the UK and Europe.
"They will perform over 35 smash hits from acts that include Duran Duran, The Human League, Kim Wilde, Culture Club, Wham and Madonna, to name but a few."
It will start at 4pm, the music starts at 6pm and the firework display will be on at 10.30pm.
Organisers Audlem Special Events Team, are hoping ticket holders will get into the spirit of things by dressing up in 80s gear, there may even be a prize.
Support act, New Moon Fever will warm up the party goers with 1950s rock and roll.
Tickets are £20 on the gate and £10 for children.
Tickets can be bought at Williams Newsagents of Audlem, Nantwich Tourist Information Centre or from www.audlem-aset.org
