Winners announced for dog wedding at Dorothy Clive Garden

Winners have been announced for a special dog wedding to be held at The Dorothy Clive Garden as part of their annual Canine Capers Event.

Two Lhasa Apsos, Maisie and Charlie, who won the competition run via Facebook, were chosen because of their unique love story, and are set to tie the knot in the garden’s outdoor wedding venue setting area The Belvedere.

Runners up, Elsa and Rosie the Jack Russel will be bridesmaids, plus Piglet, the French bull dog, who will be a page boy.

Owner of Maisie and Charlie, Jan Simms of Telford said, “We are so excited to have won the competition and the opportunity for Charlie and Maisie to get married at such a stunning outdoor wedding venue.

"We have always dreamed about this and we are so delighted and thankful to the Dorothy Clive Garden for making our dreams come true.

"My daughters Fay and Grace will also be bridesmaids and will lead Maisie and Charlie up the aisle for their big day celebrations."

The outdoor wedding venue will be photographed by local professional photographer Julia Stanley. Event goers will also be invited to be guest for this special occasion.

The Belvedere

Dog owners are encouraged to bring their dogs along to the Canine Capers event on July 23.

There will be lots to do including a chance to participate in a fun agility course and a dog show. The event’s main sponsor is Quintessential Quarters Ltd, a Staffordshire based boarding kennels and cattery.

Owner of the business, Jackie Smith, said: "We are delighted to be main sponsors of the event and we hope that everyone has a fabulous day.

"We are also pleased to be judging the dog show with the Pug Dog Welfare Rescue Association.

"We are encouraging event visitors to come up and have a chat with us on the day to see if they would like to arrange a time to come and visit the kennels and cattery.

"We pride ourselves on extremely high standards as well as offering the ultimate in care including exercise, play and accommodation of distinction."

Gate admission for the event is discounted to £5 per adult and £2 for children aged 5 to 17. Under 5’s, members and Dogs are free. £1 from the gate admission will be going to the Pug Dog Welfare & Rescue Association.
