Ellesmere Summer Festival will see the town filled with activities and exhibitions from Friday to Sunday.

Over the three days there will be a craft market and art exhibition featuring work created by local talented artists using a variety of mediums, staged in the town’s market hall.

On Saturday and Sunday the Ellesmere Model Railway Club will host its exhibition at the town hall.

Chris Scott, one of the organisers, said: “Once again the market town of Ellesmere is holding a three-day summer festival celebrating the works of local crafters and artists.

"As well as being spread throughout the town, activities will be centred around the canal wharf and the historic canal workshops.

"The festival commences on Friday with a craft market and art exhibition in the market hall at 10am. The high quality of the items produced by local crafters has often been commented on.

"People can take a walk down to the canalside during the day and view the canal traders in their decorated narrow boats, some selling traditional cheeses and chutneys, others showing fine examples of canal ware.

"Commencing on Friday also will be a real ale beer festival at the White Hart Inn in Birch Road.

"On Saturday the craft market and art exhibition will be open in the market hall commencing at 10am.

"In the town hall there will be a large model railway exhibition taking place with almost 20 layouts of various gauges on display, together with trade stalls, refreshments are available.

"On Sunday the art exhibition and craft fair will be open in the market hall as will be the railway exhibition in the town hall. Down at the canal wharf the day commences with a combined churches open air service at 10am. This will be followed by a classic car show, bringing together the pride and joy of local classic car owners."

Mr Scott added there will also be a fun dog show at 12pm on Sunday in Cremorne Gardens.
