Slapstick comedy and a lot of laughs are promised by the main cast, who met up to try on their costumes for size.

Those taking to the stage included Thomas J Redgrave, of Britain's Got Talent's winning boy band Collabro, who stars as the mischievous boy who never wants to grow up.

The 27-year-old says he and his co-star Jonas Cemm alias Captain Hook have already started training for their fun sword-fighting scenes for the show, which will kick off at The Place, in Oakengates, on December 6 for a four-week festive run.

"We'll be bringing a lorra fun and a lorra laughs. This is my first professional panto and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in. I did a lot of amateur panto back home in Lincolnshire when I was younger. I'm really looking forward to the slapstick and the sword fights with Jonas.

"We've already been sorting out a few moves. It's all part of the job, but we're having fun at the same time. Today is my first visit to Telford and I'm liking what I see. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the show in a few months' time."

Thomas is a former member of the musical theatre quartet Collabro that won the ITV hit show in 2014.

Jonas, 37, of Birmingham, could not contain his excitement at the launch event held in Telford Town Park. He and the cast wearing colourful costumes greeted surprised families arriving at the park's visitors centre for a day out.

Jonas, an actor, says: "I'm can't wait to appear in Peter Pan and I'm delighted to be working in the Midlands which is my home territory. The audience can expect a bit of innuendo just for the moms and dads and it will be a lot of fun and the swashbuckling stuff will be great too.

"I'm also looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues. Fortunately in the acting profession people always know someone who you know so there'll be no divas here. I've done do a lot of panto mainly as a the villain and general theatre tours, but this is the first time up here. I'm also looking forward to spending Christmas with my family.

He revealed that the cast will start rehearsals on November 29.

This year's dame is Steve Boyce, alias Mrs Smee, says he will have around 10 costume changes per performance.

Steve says: "Mrs Smee is working on the ship. She's generically northern, quite loud and quite brassy."

The show which is staged by Shone Productions Ltd also stars comedy actor Adama Kelly as Mr Smee, singer Charlotte Griffitrhs alias Tiger Lily, Georgina Newton, alias Tinkerbell, and Rebecca Seyhan alias Wendy.

Peter Pan is on from December 6 to 31 at The Place, Oakengates. Tickets are available from the box office on 01952 382382 at theplacetelford.com.
