Tractors to plough on down to Market Drayton match
It will be a day of roaring engines when dozens of tractors go head-to-head in an annual ploughing match.
The event, which is being held on Sunday, will see about 80 farmers put their tractors to the test in classes to suit their own equipment.
It will take place at Howle Manor, adjacent to the A41 between Market Drayton and Newport, from 10am to 2pm.
Other activities going on throughout the day include tractor pulling contests and a fun clay pigeon shoot.
The event is once again organised by Tern Valley Vintage Ploughing Club.
Organiser Andrew Millington said: “It is a nice day and a good country event.
"So far we have about 80 people taking part, including two ladies, although we should have a few more by Sunday.
"We have a clay pigeon shoot and a very good raffle. There should be tractor pulling but this slightly weather dependent.
"Food will be available. There will be trailer rides and we should have a horse coming which people can have a go at ploughing with.
"Its the 19th event I have been involved in and on a good day we usually get about 200 to 300 people coming to watch. Any surplus money we raise goes to the Richard Watson Jones fund.
"We always hold it on the first Sunday in October and people who tend to come are localish. It is weil supported from people in Wales."
Admission to the event, which will be well signposted, is £3.
