An unsigned band will have to wait to see if they can make the grand final of a national music competition after the weekend's snow put paid to their scheduled semi-final.

The Icon are waiting on a rearranged date

The Icon - whose members hail from Penkridge, Wolverhampton and Kingswinford – were due to compete in the penultimate round of the UK Soundwaves competition at Liverpool's O2 Academy on Saturday when Mother Nature struck.

A spokesman for the band, who last week appeared as The Ticket's Unsigned band of the week, said: "They postponed it on Friday as the production crew and some of the judges were cut off from travelling into Liverpool by the snow – the lads were gutted.

"Soundwaves are trying to re-arrange for later in March, it must be a nightmare with logistics."

And a statement on their Facebook page said: "We are very sorry to announce this and are gutted, but the safety of all involved comes first, and it's beyond our control. The show will go ahead very soon on the next available Saturday. All tickets remain valid for the new date."

Keep an eye on their Facebook page @theicon222 for updates on the rearranged date.
