1960s party at Telford museum
A museum will open its doors for a 1960s party, complete with classic pop music, Twister and Babycham.
Enginuity, on Wellington Road, Coalbrookdale, will open its doors on Saturday for the free party, which will with jukebox hits and favourites from 50 years ago.
The best 60s costumes will be in with a chance to win a family passport ticket, granting a family of two adults and their children unlimited entry in all the Ironbridge Gorge Museums for a year.
Music will be performed by Telford and District Light Operatic Players, with popular board games from the time on offer throughout.
For grown-ups, Sparkling Babycham and Blue Nun wine will be on offer at a cash bar.
Richard Aldred, marketing officer at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, said: “We can’t think of a better way of celebrating our 50th anniversary than by inviting members of the local community to join us for a fun family 1960s themed night at Enginuity.
"The free night is going to be great fun with great live music, a cash-bar serving classic drinks as well as a host of board game favourites like Kerplunk & Operation!”
The evening will also give visitors the chance to see the giant techno exhibits at the museum.
The Fab Lab design and manufacture facility, which includes a 3D printer, will be open for younger visitors to take part in a creative activity for a small charge.
The event will be held as part of the nationwide Museums at Night Festival and as part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Doors open 5.30pm and the evening will finish around 10pm. Entry is free to this evening event but tickets must be reserved in advance online at www.ironbridge.org.uk or by calling the Ironbridge Visitor Information Centre on 01952 433424.
