Bill Tabone, founder of the Australian Paranormal Group, flew from Melbourne to join local group Paranormal Friends at an investigation at Whittington Castle on Saturday.

The group are made up of experienced investigators with a love of the paranormal world, and Mr Tabone said the evidence gathered last weekend was well worth the 24-hour flight.

He said: "The opportunity to investigate somewhere as iconic and historic as Whittington Castle does not come around very often, especially in Australia, and it certainly lived up to its haunted reputation.

"We've gathered some great evidence and there were some unforgettable experiences.

"It was great to work again with Paranormal Friends and hopefully I'll be able to visit Shropshire again in the future to investigate more of the historic buildings the county can boast.

"The people of Shropshire were very welcoming and also very keen to investigate, making for an enjoyable evening."

Members of the public joined the investigation until 4am on Sunday morning, and it was the third time the group had investigated the location.

According to members, they experienced several ghostly goings-on including K2 activity, unexplained bangs and noises and lots of glass divination.

Pieces of information and evidence will be evaluated with co-founder of the group Christopher Morris excited by the evidence.

He added: "It was a privilege to be able to bring Bill over to this historic Shropshire location. Ever since another Co-founder of the group and I worked with him in Melbourne we wanted to get him over here.

"The investigation was brilliant. The guests were all eager and got involved with our usual techniques as well as those Bill brought over from Down Under.

"We believe we may have caught some good evidence of paranormal activity which we can't wait to analyse.

"Also, in November, I will be lucky enough to join Bill and the Australian Paranormal Society for an investigation of the Aradale Lunatic Asylum near Melbourne which is the largest and oldest such establishment in Australia."
