Cheswardine Parish Hall, near Market Drayton, held the dog show and family fun day, which raised funds for the hall.

Along with the dog show there was a car boot sale, charity stalls, bouncy castle, book fair, children’s games and a craft fair.

Organiser of the dog show Kay Knapper said that visitors enjoyed the show despite the weather.

She said: "This has been running for a long long time, but I've on;y taken over it this year, some friends of mine have been doing it previously.

"Altogether we had about 30 dogs in the show, but they enter more than one class. We probably would have had more if the weather had been better.

"The bad weather on the day does put visitors off coming to the event, but it was still successful."

Mrs Knapper said all funds from Sunday's event go back to the village hall.

She said: "It costs the parish hall nothing as I sponsor the dog show, so any money that is raised goes back to the hall which is a very well-used asset to the community.

"We had lots of lovely prizes, trophies and rosettes that we gave out and everybody that came enjoyed it and we had some lovely dogs of all shapes and sizes, ages and breeds.

"You can plan everything else but you can't quite plan for the weather.

"The people that came really enjoyed it and will have nice memories of the day."
