Musical play group hits the high note in Market Drayton
A new music-focussed activity hub for children is hitting a high note with parents.
Staccato, based in Shropshire Street, Market Drayton, opened on Monday, and organisers said it was already proving a success.
Combining playing and listening to music with dress up, games and toys, the aim is to provide something a little bit different for families.
The hub is the brainchild of Councillor Rebekah Gould, who said the support has been overwhelming.
"There's so many studies that show that different parts of your brain fire when you listen to music, and Staccato is a nice chance to give children cognitive learning," she said.
"I've been a music teacher for five years in Market Drayton. Parents have asked me if I do lessons for little ones, or lessons for children with special educational needs, so I started doing daytime lessons for tots. The interest was amazing and it went from there."
Rebekah said she wanted a place that was full inclusive of people from all backgrounds.
"It was something I thought was needed in Drayton," she said. "I've got three children of my own and there wasn't anything for them in that respect, where you could pop in at any time.
"I wanted to do something that was different. it came from there. A lot of people have been so supportive.
"We wanted it to be fully inclusive. Anyone from any background can come and get involved."
