One of the biggest horticultural events in the country, the show will see exhibitors from all over the UK travel to Shrewsbury in a celebration of all things floral, and to enjoy a range of entertainment.

This year’s show is set to feature a variety of special guests including celebrity gardeners Chris Beardshaw and Penny Meadmore, along with celebrity chef and Dragons’ Den protege Levi Roots.

In the arena, equestrian display team The Cavalry of Heroes will be showcasing their skills to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

A special show has been created to remember the role that the horses and soldiers played in The Great War, with a variety of tricks and stunts to be performed.

As always, the main Quarry Marquee will play host to some of the top horticulturalists in the country, with more than 50 exhibitors vying for the top awards, and the standards being very high. The Severn Marquee will be home to the various societies, amateur growers and bee and honey exhibitors who will have travelled to show their creations.

Competition is often fierce amongst the highly talented and experienced amateur growers who provide some wonderful displays for the viewing public. Amanda Jones, chair of the Shrewsbury Flower Show marketing committee, said: “There is a reason why Shrewsbury Flower Show is the longest-running flower show in the world – this year sees the 131st show in fact. And that is largely down to the fantastic programme each year – with something to keep all of the family occupied.

“Children go free and we’ve got a fantastic free children’s area too so from toddlers to grandparents, and anyone in between – it really is a fun, family day out.

“This year promises to be no different, so we’d urge anyone, whether they’re new to the show or a returning visitor, to book their tickets and mark the date in their diary to ensure they don’t miss out on a fantastic summer day out. All of the schedules for the floral art and amateur growers have now gone out. We will be excited to see the huge range of exhibits across the show.”

This year’s Shrewsbury Flower Show will also feature musical entertainment from popular bagpipe rockers The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, along with The Abba Reunion Tribute Show, featuring a variety of the Swedish pop group’s classic hits.

Great shopping is to be had across the whole show. From the dedicate Craft Marquee, to the vibrant Artisan Area showcasing talented locals and their handmade goods. In the main Trade you will find a wide variety of things to buy from bulbs, garden tools to fabulous jewellery and lovely clothing.

The children’s area is set to be packed full of fun, exciting activities for people of all ages, including children’s planting sessions run by Chris Beardshaw and David Hatfield, a circus skills area, rugby skills and animals from Walford College.

Each night of the show will bid attendees good night with a firework display at around 9.45pm.

Known throughout the region as one of the most enjoyable events on the local calendar, the Shrewsbury Flower Show is set to once again entertain guests of all ages, and show our county town at its best.
