Norton in Bloom welcomed judges to Norton-in-Hales for a presentation, tour and afternoon entertainment to wind down.

The presentation detailed all the work the group has put into getting the village ready for the big day, including regular work parties and community events all year round.

Chair Ann Holland and secretary Malcolm McDonald led the tour, which visited the Parton's Pool beauty spot and its new steps. The judges saw first hand the village's flower beds as well as the way the group sustains its plants.

Nigel Passmore from the group said: "It went extremely well, and on a lovely sunny day. The judges were very impressed with the floral displays throughout the village, and how many people took part.

"Our theme this year was 'nature and habitats' and we tried to cut down on water use as much as possible. We have used mulching a lot more, and replaced some of our oak barrels with flowerbeds as they don't need as much water.

"We are quietly confident, and we will find out what we got in September."

Sally Passmore, also of the group, said: "It's the most amazing atmosphere in the group. Everyone enjoys taking part and there is real pride in the village."
