"There is also, of course, the Cosplay, with people dressing up as their favourite character. We have a competition for the best outfit that will run over the weekend ," he said.

"Our judges are huge in the world of Cosplay."

The weekend convention spans the generations, from stars ranging from television accurate Dr Who Daleks, to Doug Grant from the cult series, Walking Dead and Virginia Hey of Farscape and Mad Max 2.

"We have all genres represented and people of all ages will be enthralled by what is on offer."

As well as providing a new event for Oswestry Ozcon will also be raising money for Alzheimers UK.

Mark said: "We have put on live action gaming events successfully so I thought, we have the knowledge and skills, we should use them to put on a new event for the young people of Oswestry.

"Bringing celebrities to the town is a big thing. Like all market towns, Oswestry is suffering although there are gems if you look for them. We wanted to give the younger generation something to appeal to them. If it is a success then it will become an annual event."
