Typhoon to return as 2019 Cosford Air Show line-up revealed
An array of iconic RAF aircraft will join the line-up at this year's Cosford Air Show.
Crowds will hope to be amazed after a number of star attractions confirmed they will feature at the popular summer event.
Among them is the Typhoon, which will show off its power and agility in Cosford for the second year in a row.
The combat jet is the primary fighter protecting UK skies and is also part of NATO's air defence in the Baltic and Black Sea regions.
It comes after the legendary Red Arrows announced they will be returning to the skies above the site on June 9.
Around 60,000 people packed into the showground next to the M54 last year and similar crowds will be expected at the 2019 event.
Another highlight is likely to be the demonstration of freefall and canopy skills from the RAF's parachute display team The Falcons.
The Grob Tutor T1, based at RAF Cosford with the University of Birmingham Air Squadron, will also display its aerobatic skills above the airfield.
Meanwhile visitors will also get a dose of nostalgia, via a display from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring a classic trio of a Hurricane, Spitfire and Lancaster.
Guests will also watch as the Tucano T1 returns to Cosford for the first time since 2014. The aircraft has been used by the RAF to provide basic training for fast jet pilots and retires from service later in 2019 after 30 years.
Air show director Clive Elliott said: “We’re thrilled to be offering such a diverse array of aircraft as part of our six-hour flying display, showcasing the best of the Royal Air Force in the skies above RAF Cosford, the home of RAF Engineering.”
The show is a ticket-only event, with last year’s event completely selling out in the week prior to the show.
Tickets are on sale at cosfordairshow.co.uk and will also be available from a selection of tourist information centres from the beginning of April.
Admission is free for all under-16s accompanied by an adult.
