The centre celebrates the Old Potts Railway which ran in its heyday from the Abbey station in Shrewsbury out to Criggion, Llanymynech and Nant Mawr on the Powys, Shropshire border.

Nant Nawr Visitor Centre will be open from 10am to 5pm on April 20 and 21.

Mark Hignett who is behind the project said there would be plenty of things to see including railway exhibits, the Richard Morris monorail collection and static displays.

The cafe in one of the class 309 carriages will also be open serving hot and cold drinks and light refreshments.

"If trains are not your thing, just take in the natural beauty of the Nant Mawr visitor centre's wooded walks, nature trail and babbling stream," Mr Hignett said.

Entry is free to all, and accompanied children will receive a chocolate egg.
