There was a whole host of attractions on Saturday and Sunday at the Kidderminster Carriage Works and The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley as part of the Open House Weekend.

One of the most popular attractions was the model railway layouts on display.

Events co-ordinator Lewis Maddox said: "It's all about people with a love for Severn Valley Railway coming together to show what they can do in miniature

"We've had 30 on display over the weekend and had people from all over the country exhibiting. We've seen people come from Kent and Northampton with their model railways, and lots of local people too."

There was also four steam trains running the length of line between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster running both days and access to behind the scenes areas.

Visitors had a chance to tour the Locomotive Works, Boilershop and signal box at Bridgnorth, the Carriage & Wagon Yard at Bewdley and the Carriage Works and signal box at Kidderminster.

Saturday saw more than 1,000 people enjoy the event and a further 800 on Sunday.

Lewis said: "It's been running in this format for the last three or four years now and is always really popular. I absolutely love it - especially when the weather is good.

"Everyone seemed to enjoy walking around in the spring sunshine. It's a great way for us to say thank you to our members and supporters."

He said plans are already underway for next year's Open House Weekend and added that there will be one or two surprises for 2020.
