The second-year level two and three students called in for inspiration as part of a field trip organised in partnership with the National Trust which operates the site, in Holyhead Road, Wellington.

Visitors to the site will be in for a treat as their creations will be displayed at the beautiful Victorian villa, off Holyhead Road, during the bank holiday weekend of May 3-6 before being entered in a competition.

Telford College art tutor Anna Dowdall said: “Our students hope their work inspired by the building and its grounds, will encourage visitors to Sunnycroft to help raise further funds. They really enjoyed having exclusive access to the house and grounds, and learned a lot about the history of the house and the owners.

“They created some lovely primary studies to inspire their design ideas and it was also great team-building time.”

Art student Kimberley Okai, added: “We had a great day. It's been such a laugh.”

Others in the group included Chloe Jones, Connor Wilcox, Ruby Taylor and Daniel Farmer.

Sunnycroft , often described as a hidden gem, has its original wallpapers and everyday items belonging to the family that once lived there.

It's five-acre garden has a glass house, a conservatory, kennels, pigsties and stables, plus a croquet lawn, and Edwardian tea-room.

A fundraising campaign is currently under way to pay for renovation work the 120-year-old Halliday glass house which is one of just two left standing in the country. It also has grade II listed status.

Sunnycroft estate was opened to the public 20 years ago when the family awarded it to the trust.
