West Mercia Police said reports of coronavirus lockdown breaches were received and investigating officers found a group of people inside a public house.

The force added that those inside, as well as the pub, were reported for Covid breaches and will be receiving fines from Shropshire Council.

A statement from West Mercia Police said: "Covid fine in Oswestry. Reports were received of a Covid breach in a public house.

"Seven members of the public were found inside. All involved have been reported for Covid breaches and will be receiving fines.

"It's unacceptable that a minority of people continue to disregard the rules which are there for everyone's safety."

It comes after a smaller pub-type venue in the centre of Ludlow last week became the first in Shropshire to be issued a Fixed Penalty Notice by Shropshire Council for allowing members of the public to drink near the premises.
