Bridgnorth wedding venue to feature in romantic novel
A country house in Bridgnorth is going to be featured in a new romantic novel.
The book, by local author Keren Hughes, is being launched on Tuesday (MAY 30) who has visited Blakelands Country House a number of times.
The owners of the house said they were "thrilled" to be featured in the book, by the West Bromwich-based author.
Keren's release is her fifth book, and she said while writing it, when trying to imagine where the couple in the book would get married, she instantly thought of Blakelands.
She said:“I first visited Blakelands around 10 years ago and fell in love with it straight away. The main House dates back to 1500 and has a rich history, making it an impressive and romantic setting. I stayed in the Ebony and Ivory room and when I was thinking of a place where my characters could go for their first romantic getaway, I straight away thought of Blakelands.
"Without giving too much away, there is a wedding scene later in the book, and as Blakelands is such a stunning wedding venue, I couldn’t think of anywhere better for them to tie the knot.”
My Best Friend's Fiancé is the story of a woman named Kara, who is in love with Reid.
The only problem is, Reid is engaged to her best friend Zoey.
The problem is made worse by the fact that Kara and Zoey share a house and once they are married, Reid will live there too.
The book can now be pre-ordered on Amazon and Keren will also be holding a competition to win one of the Blakelands Bears on her Facebook page facebook.com/authorkerenhughes on May 30.
The restaurant at Blakelands is open to visitors every Thursday to Sunday, and the house and barn are available on an exclusive-use basis for weddings, with a dining capacity of 120 guests and overnight accommodation for up to 30 people.
