Good clean fun for Much Wenlock soap box derby - with pictures
Visitors enjoyed a day of thrills and spills in Much Wenlock to raise funds for a local wildlife charity.
Cuan House held their second soap box derby event, which proved popular with local residents and families.
The event, which was held at The Edge Adventure activity centre, saw 10 homemade vehicles race around a purpose-built track.
Participants were asked to get creative this year, meaning a wide variety of soap boxes could be spotted.
Vehicles ranged from a superhero themed Batmobile to a racing bath tub, complete with rubber ducks.
Each competitor was allowed to complete the course three times, with a £50 prize being awarded to the fastest racer.
Other prizes were given out throughout the day, including best soap box design and best dressed team.
Curt Edmunds, is a bathroom fitter from Kingswinford, his bath-themed soap box took pride of place on the start line.
He said: "We bolted the bath onto a metal frame, it's complete with a shower, steering wheel and rubber ducks.
"I wanted to learn to weld, so my dad came up with the idea of building the soapbox. It's not looking too hopeful if I'm honest, but that's part of the fun.
"This is the first event we've done but I think we might be back next year."
"Some of the vehicles can hit up to 30 miles per hour," said Sean Nicholas, director of Cuan House.
He added: "I'm originally from Ludlow, and we used to go to the Soap Box Derby at Richard's Castle, I always thought it was a great idea.
"So I thought we'd give it a try, we did it last year and we thought we'd give it another go.
"It's a great money earner for the charity. All funds raised will go towards the rehabilitation of local wildlife."
The staff at Cuan House work all year round to rehabilitate sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and birds.
All money raised from the weekend's event will help fund the charity, and the vital work they do.
