Funnyman Greg Davies is giant of comedy
Shropshire comedian Greg Davies freely admits to being a rubbish teacher. Far too freely, in fact, as he goes as far as to say he positively hated the last two years of his 13 year career.
Concert review: Greg Davies at The Place at Oakengates
Shropshire comedian Greg Davies freely admits to being a rubbish teacher. Far too freely, in fact, as he goes as far as to say he positively hated the last two years of his 13 year career.
But what he lacked in the classroom is clearly made up for on the comedy circuit with his typically witty, down-to-earth presence on stage – even if his protruding stomach did give the first two rows more than they bargained for.
When one heckler tried to upstage him, the star of Channel 4's the Inbetweeners made certain the 700-strong crowd knew exactly who was boss with a lightning-quick retort.
The largely 20 to 30-something crowd waited eagerly for the start of Greg's Firing Cheeseballs at a Dog 93-date debut show.
They weren't disappointed. The Wem-born star delivered in spades.
The song lyrics on entering the stage – "I wish I was a little bit taller" – set the tone for a sarcastic, animated, and at times bizarre night of unadulterated entertainment – at 6ft 8ins Greg towers over most.
He started by apologising for 'slagging off' Telford on national television and ended the show saying: "I do love coming back to Shropshire though at least once a month – and when I'm forced to, to Telford."
