This summer Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices are working with Petplace to launch the Summer Bumper Raffle.

Players will be able to enter the charity’s competition by buying ticket books online, through calling the fundraising offices or from one of the 14 shops across Shropshire, North Wales, Cheshire and Powys.

Thanks to the generosity of North Wales and Shropshire-based Petplace the first prize winner will get £3,000, which can either be taken in a lump sum or as £250 a month for 12 months. The second prize is £1,500 and the third prize will be £500.

By buying raffle tickets, which cost £1 each, people will be directly helping to support more than 750 families who are either caring for a terminally ill child, or whose child has died.

It costs £6.5 million a year to run the hospices and make sure those that need care the most have access.

Simi Epstein, director of fundraising at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith, said: “The pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our finances, and we cannot be sure what the future faces.

“What is certain is that there are families that need our support now and in the future. One mum recently said to me ‘the future is uncertain but we feel safe and we are not alone’.

Generosity

“This Bumper Summer Raffle is of huge importance to us and we hope our supporters be as generous as they have been in the past. It is only with the donations from our supporters that we know we can be here to continue supporting local children and families with essential crisis and end-of-life care, respite care and counselling.

“I would like to thank Petplace for their generosity in sponsoring the raffle which allows us to offer great prizes and a great incentive for people to purchase a ticket.”

Sion Pritchard, managing director of Petplace, added: “We’ve had a great relationship with Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith for a number of years. It is a charity that means a great deal to us and our community. It’s a truly special place that we are honoured to support.

“The work that is done at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith is wonderful. When you walk through the doors you know you are in a special place. The work they do there with the children and families that need care is nothing short of amazing.

“We didn’t think twice about sponsoring the raffle, which is an important fundraising activity for the hospices, especially during a pandemic which has caused such difficulties with income for the team there.”

Anyone who would like raffle ticket books to either buy or sell to family and friends can call the fundraising office on 01691671671 or visit hopehouse.org.uk/raffle

The raffle closes on June 21 and the draw will be made and winners notified on June 24.
