Shrewsbury Quarry play area set to open as ice cream seller and car firm pitch plans for park
A children's play area refurbishment is on track while an ice cream van and a wrapped-up vehicle could be installed nearby.

Equipment at Shrewsbury's Quarry is being revamped and some should be ready to use in the Easter holidays following the £375,000 overhaul.
The area will be transformed into Darwin's Islands of Adventure. Councillors have also discussed plans which could see a semi-permanent structure for an ice cream vendor between Easter and October half-terms, as well as a promotion for a car dealership.
Helen Ball, clerk of Shrewsbury Town Council, said: "We have had a request from a car dealership who has a new vehicle and wants to place in in the Quarry. The idea was that it would have a wraparound on the vehicle itself that would be able to be coloured in by young people.
"It would be something very quirky down towards the play area. So we have gone back to him and asked for some more information and some more detail on this.
"With the ice cream vendor, it is a vendor that has a three-year contract with us and the one that brings the trailer in on a daily basis.
"He has asked us to agree to the principle of a small structure and cited examples where this has worked. We have looked at the examples and said what would and wouldn't work and it would be down as their responsibility for it.
"It would be their responsibility to monitor flood levels and we would not accept responsibility for it."
More detail will be compiled before going before the town council.
Members of Shrewsbury Town Council heard at a meeting on Monday about progress with the play equipment.
A dish roundabout has been installed, as well as a group swing, a bridge crossing with rubber spheres, a rock spinner, flat and cradle swings, a mission climber and a tree house tower climber with a large curved slide. The next stage includes a roundabout and swing, and rubber surfacing being laid.
