Memories will come flooding back to Brian Eades when he goes to watch The Artist in Telford.

Mr Eades worked at Oakengates Theatre for 28 years, retiring two years ago as the venue's senior technician. He still fondly remembers when movies were a weekly treat at the theatre.

Now he says he is thrilled that a film is going to be shown once again at the theatre and was quick to buy his ticket.

The Shropshire Star struck a deal with Reels on Wheels and Oakengates Theatre @ The Place to put on two screenings on Saturday.

A campaign began to bring the Oscar-winning film to the town after it became clear that Telford was going to miss out. Officials at the town's Odeon cinema said they were not showing it due to the film's 'limited distribution'.

Mr Eades, from Stirchley, said: "I think it's good to bring it here on Saturday. I wanted to come because it's a bit different."

Mr Eades, 67, started working at Oakengates Theatre as a stage hand cleaner in the 1980s. It was Mr Eades job to get the screen ready.
