The National Wedding Show, NEC, Birmingham - review
Hundreds of budding brides and grooms-to-be will descend on Birmingham’s NEC this weekend for The National Wedding Show.
The three-day event at the Midland exhibition centre began yesterday and features stalls from an array of companies offering everything from flowers, to music, photography, catering, special effects and wedding gowns.
Multiple musicians performed from their stalls yesterday, providing a lovely atmosphere of varied music as shoppers strolled around the hall.
For those looking for the perfect wedding dress, the choice was endless - from classic satin gowns, to fairytale dresses, designer outfits and unique gowns with all manner of different features.
Full walls of tiaras, head dresses, decorative clips, jewellery and much more also gave brides a huge amount of choice when it came to choosing the right glitzy accessories to accompany their wedding gown and veil.
In addition to the usual bands and caterers, many firms were also at the show offering a range of unusual additions to shoppers’ big days, including electronic shisha pipes and special effects ranging from dry ice to laser lights. Companies selling sweets and gin also offered unique wedding favours.
Other off-the-wall stalls boasted weird and wonderful cake designs, and faux flower bouquets designed with films and television series in mind - from Dr Who to The Nightmare Before Christmas.
A catwalk featuring designer gowns also gave brides inspiration, while champagne bars offered shoppers a place to rest their feet and contemplate their many options.
There were also stalls for grooms and bridal parties, selling suits, bridesmaids dresses, and hats, fascinators, and full outfits for the bride and groom’s mothers.
A good day out for anyone looking to peruse their options ahead of the big day - especially if they’re looking for something a little different.
