Glam rocker Noddy Holder comes to Telford
It may be almost 40 years since Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody reached Christmas No 1 – but band frontman Noddy Holder showed he had lost none of his style when he appeared on stage in Shropshire.
Dressed in a black hat alongside a bright green handkerchief and blue shoes, Holder certainly still likes to do things his own way.
And he treated the audience at Oakengates Theatre to acoustic versions of Merry Xmas Everybody and Far, Far Away during his appearance on stage.
Holder spent much of his appearance last night talking through his career with Radio 2 DJ Mark Radcliffe about his career before taking questions from the audience.
The glam rock star kept the audience enthralled with anecdotes such as buying clothes off a young Freddie Mercury in Kensington Market, recording in the studio next to John Lennon to high points of his career such as having 18 hits in the space of 20 years.
But he also cast doubts over a Slade reunion – admitting the original band members were all "different people now".
