Injury forces Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye to miss V Festival
Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye have today pulled out of V Festival after the guitarist suffered "severe head trauma".
The rock band, who are due to play at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in November, have had to cancel a string of shows after Gem Archer was admitted to hospital following an accident.
They were due to perform at V Festival at Weston Park on the 4 Music stage on August 17 but have now pulled out.
Organisers say there will now be some 'line-up changes'.
A statement released by the band says: "Beady Eye regret to announce that they are cancelling their performance at V Festival and their remaining scheduled shows and promotional commitments in August due to guitarist Gem Archer suffering severe head trauma after an accident on August 1.
"The band apologise to fans, but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him throughout his recovery. Gem was released from hospital yesterday evening and is recovering at home though remains under observation." The nature of the accident has not been made public.
Concerned fans took to social networking websites with messages of support for the 46-year-old performer.
His wife, Lou, tweeted: "Thanks for all your support and well wishes during this awful time.
"I know he will appreciate it. Hopefully he'll be back on his feet soon. X".
Bandmate Andy Bell wrote on the social networking site: "Wanna wish my brother @gemarcherbe a speedy recovery X".
The band cancelled shows in Belgium and Japan as a result of the accident.
They are also still scheduled to perform at V Festival in Chelmsford, Essex on August 17.
Beady Eye was formed by Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, together with fellow members of the Britpop band Andy Bell and Gem Archer.
They enlisted drummer Chris Sharrock, who had previously played with Oasis on tour, and this year Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler joined the group.
Liam Gallagher has hit the headlines in recent weeks after a US newspaper reported he fathered a child with a music journalist.
The 40-year-old star, who is married to singer and actress Nicole Appleton, has said he is suing over the claims.
