V Festival 2017: James Arthur - review
Pop icon James Arthur attracted huge crowds when he played V Festival's main stage this afternoon.
The X Factor winner performed as the sun shone over his thousands of fans, as he donned a short-sleeved black and white shirt and skinny black jeans.
Rapping and singing above a lively crowd, the singer-songwriter had fans screaming, dancing and eagerly singing along.
"My name is James Arthur," beamed the star.
"How's everybody doing today - you good?
"It's sunny out here.
"Today's gonna be a really good day.
"I think we need to make a beautiful energy in this place.
"Who's with me?"
And, as cheers echoed across the arena, James dedicated Sober to the 'ladies' in the crowd - before giving a passionate performance of the slow-paced, popular hit.
The 29-year-old then treated the audience to an awesome rendition of Sisqo's Thong Song, provoking both laughter and eager dance moves from fans.
Throughout the set, James' voice was strong, wide-ranging and faultless.
His four-piece band, made up of keys, drums, bass and guitar was tremendous too - delivering a stonking, clean and powerful sound throughout.
Another highlight was slow number Sun Comes Up, which James sang beautifully alongside an acoustic guitar.
"Thank you very much" said James.
"Five years ago I won a show called The X Factor.
"I never thought I'd be here playing the main stage at V Festival in front of all you beautiful people.
"Never ever give up on your dream.
"This song is where I started my journey."
And with that, he gave a spine tingling rendition of Impossible - originally by Shontelle.
This, of course, was a real hit with the fans who sang along to every word as James touched the hands of the front row.
Other songs performed included Can I Be Him and Say You Won't Let Go to end.
"You've been a phenomenal crowd," added James.
"Thank you."
