V Festival: Replacement event RiZE Festival announced for Chelmsford - but no mention of Weston Park plans
V Festival's replacement event has been announced for Chelmsford - but organisers are yet to confirm what will happen in Staffordshire.
The event, which last year took place at Weston Park from August 19 to 20, saw the likes of Pink, Jay Z, Rudimental and Craig David perform.
Details of the London line-up, taking place at what will now be called RiZE Festival, were announced last night with no mention of the Weston-under-Lizard site.
Rumours of the festival not returning to the Staffordshire site came about in September last year from a music website, which also claimed the V Festival promoter Festival Republic was still planning to run the event at the sister site, at Hylands Park in Chelmsford.
But the council which provides the licence for the event, South Staffordshire Council, said there was ‘no indication’ the summer festival would not be going ahead at Weston Park.
The event has been held each August at the two venues since the 1990s, with the first event at Weston Park in 1999.
Headliners set to play the Chelmsford festival include Liam Gallagher and Stereophonics.
Organisers say the event will bring together 'an exciting mix of the very best music from classic indie, pop, urban, dance and new upcoming talent across four stages'.
More on this as we get it.
