The Overtones' Timmy Matley dies, aged just 36 - star was due to play Wrexham this summer
The Overtones' Timmy Matley has died, aged just 36.
He had been due to perform at Wrexham alongside his vocal harmony group at William Aston Hall on June 10. It is not yet clear whether the band will continue with the planned UK tour.
The Overtones announced the tragic news on Twitter this afternoon.
"It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away," said the announcement.
Timmy had been fighting a battle with skin cancer, after the star discovered a lump beneath his arm two years ago.
A number of stars have paid tribute to Timmy, including Philip Schofeld:
Timmy became a member of The Overtones, signed by Warner Bros. Records, in 2010.
Songs the band is best known for include Gambling Man, The Longest Time, Runaround Sue, and Loving The Sound.
